Quebecor World Announces New Contract for Inertia Magazine

April 1, 2004 -- QuebecorWorld has won a major multi-million contract to print a new publication Inertia Magazine. "We're pleased that Spurious Publications has selected us for this exciting new publication," said Joel Joke, Contract VP of Quebecor World. The magazine is directed at business executives who think that "things are just fine the way they are" and who want them to stay that way. Feature articles of the premier issue have not been finalized, but plans are for a cover story "Change: It's Really Overrated" and other features "Resisting Technology Through Procrastination" and "Keeping The Lid On Things." An article by an unnamed guest author from Harvard University is said to proclaim that planning just adds unnecessary costs to businesses when it would be cheaper to just set things up and leave them alone.

No digital versions of the publication will be available, and it will not sponsor a Web site or any industry events. "We'll get to people the old fashioned way. They'll just have to discover us through their own initiative. People who resist change have a lot of time on their hands, and that's what we're counting on," said the publisher, Seve DeLirre. Mr. DeLirre had previously edited BeeperWeek, which went out of business last year because of stiff competition from cell phones. "I miss my beeper," he continued, "because I had found ways to make it turn on whenever people were asking me to do something different than what I was used to doing. That's why Inertia Magazine appealed to me."
