A Comprehensive Portfolio of New and Recently Introduced Thermal CTP Platesetters, Printing Equipment and Workflow Solutions Will Greet Booth Visitors
Platesetters
Several PlateRite series thermal CTP platesetters will be featured. These include the latest models from the PlateRite Ultima very large format lineup. The PlateRite 8800II will represent the eight-up CTP family. The PlateRite 6600, a unique platesetter for six-page plate production, makes its Graph Expo debut. Also making its Graph Expo debut is the PlateRite FX870, which applies Screen's customer-proven laser-imaging technology for flexographic printing.
Trueflow
Trueflow 3 version 4.0 leads a long list of new Trueflownet-based workflow solutions in store for booth visitors. Other software introductions include Spekta 2HR, the high-resolution hybrid screening technology that achieves detail comparable to line screens of 650 lpi or higher. In addition, two full-color printing presses make return appearances at the McCormick Place Complex. The Truepress 344 four-color digital offset press and Truepress Jet 520 variable-data inkjet printer offer low operating costs, exceptional performance and high print quality.
New products that Screen (USA) will showcase at Graph Expo:
PlateRite 6600
The PlateRite 6600 series is a new type of platesetter, providing increased flexibility in plate format support. Capable of imaging intermediate-size plates, from 12 x 14.6 inches to 38.6 x 27 inches, it accommodates the latest generation of six-page web and sheetfed presses.
PlateRite 6600E
The entry-level PlateRite 6600E has a 32-channel imaging head and produces 18 plates per hour. The faster PlateRite 6600S (64-channel) images 30 plates per hour, ideal for satisfying the throughput requirements of even the most demanding printer. The output capacity of the PlateRite 6600 series can be upgraded at the user facility to meet expanding production needs. Using the same base engine, printers can upgrade from an entry-level manual PlateRite 6600E to a high-productivity, fully automated PlateRite 6600S in the field by simply replacing certain key parts.
PlateRite FX870
Label and flexible packaging printers increasingly utilize flexographic presses to manufacture their products. With the PlateRite FX870 - Screen's first flexo CTP device - Screen is helping to improve the package-printing process. The PlateRite FX870 is a high-performance CTP system that supports advanced digital flexo plates up to 34.3 x 29 inches. It enables high-quality printing of labels, flexible packaging, corrugated, carton and security printing. Standout features include enhanced reproducibility of highlighted areas. The PlateRite FX870 is compatible with Screen's specially developed packaging workflow, Packstudio SE. Screen will display the PlateRite FX870 at Graph Expo. It will be commercially available in September.
Packstudio SE
To provide integral front-end prepress support for the PlateRite FX870, Screen and Artwork Systems collaborated to introduce Packstudio SE for preproduction of packaging materials. Based on the packaging industry standard workflow, Artwork Systems' ArtPro, Packstudio SE offers optimum trapping processing, sophisticated step-and-repeat, CAD system coordination and other essential functions for the preparation of graphics used in label and packaging production. Packstudio SE is fully integrated into the Trueflownet JDF-based operating environment.
Spekta 2 HR
Spekta 2 HR, the newest solution of the Spekta hybrid screening series, delivers the highest level of detail to date on plates imaged by PlateRite platesetters. Screen developed Spekta 2 HR as an answer for the printer's specific needs when creating high-end brochures and sheetfed-printed materials where uncompromising quality and color are critical. Spekta 2 HR delivers comparable detail to high-frequency lines screens of 650 lpi or higher.
Spekta 2 HR screening technology is implemented in the current Spekta 2 package. Spekta 2 makes dot gain adjustments easier because of Screen's exclusive 12-bit screening technology. As with all Spekta solutions, it prevents screen modulation and residual graininess in areas where normal AM screening can't. Spekta 2 improves overall color control by eliminating banding, moirÈ and jagged lines, ensuring smooth, detailed printing reproductions.
Trueflow 3 version 4.0
Fast platesetters need the right system to drive them. Screen provides this with Trueflow 3. A powerful workflow management system based on Portable Document Format (PDF) and Job Definition Format (JDF), Trueflow 3 automates prepress production and optimizes CTP output. Screen has released a major upgrade to Trueflow 3, with more functions, options and operational advances. Trueflow 3 version 4.0 incorporates numerous enhancements to boost system performance and operator productivity. Here are just some of the new capabilities:
- User security access levels have been added to decrease operator errors
- 30-percent increase in input processing speed
- Expanded output progress status
- Single-page bleed output
- Versioning and double-burn ability
- Support for double-sided proof printing
- Optional tools for inspecting pages and archiving jobs.
