2004 GPO Top 50

[See complete list below]

(Chambersburg, PA) -- The more things change, the more they stay the same. As the Federal Government Printing Office (GPO) undergoes its biggest overhaul in decades, the printers who produce the most work through the GPO procurement system remain pretty stable.

The e-LYNXX Corporation’s Annual Top 50 GPO Vendors list shows Monarch Litho of Montebello, CA in the top spot for the second straight year, and fifth time in the past seven. In addition, seven of the top ten in the 2003 list remained in that upper echelon of the newest ranking. The list is compiled from data assembled by e-LYNXX’ ABC Advisors division and encompasses the Federal Fiscal Year beginning October 1, 2003 and ending September 30, 2004.

Looking deeper, 66 firms obtained at least $1 million in volume during the past year through GPO’s open bid procurement, while an additional 45 firms had winnings of $500,000 or more. As a whole, more than 2,100 vendors obtained some of the nearly $385 million dollars of work bid by GPO during the fiscal year.

“While the GPO moves forward with technological change to better meet the needs of customers, its long time mission to get jobs done by quality printers remains a focus,” according to e-LYNXX Vice President Doug Harbach. “Each year, we see some aggressive moves by vendors to obtain this work, but the top vendors are still those who have become are savvy about the GPO market through many years of active participation.”

Harbach adds that the inclusion of some of the top printing firms in the world in the Top 50 list shows that GPO is a viable and profitable market with work that can positively effect the bottom line.
