But there are places in the world where it does not matter.

The permanent haze over Hong Kong is from Chinese factory air pollution. Vietnam also has a haze over it. China has special air blowers to cleanse the air for the Olympics. You would not drink the tap water in most parts of Asia...Read More

Will the Next Generation of Graphic Communications Professionals Drive a Greener Industry?
In a recent conversation with Hans Kellogg, Assistant Professor at Ball State University’s Graphic Arts Management Program, he shared with me the University’s environmental sustainability statement, which reads in part:

“The University's practices reduce both the consumption of materials and energy and the emission of pollutants to their lowest levels possible, without decreases in the level of education, scholarly work, and services provided.”

In an effort to deliver state-of-the-art education to students enrolled in the Graphic Arts Management Program, and at the same time support environmental sustainability, the department recently migrated from film-based platemaking in its lab to a chemistry-free Presstek Dimension425 CTP system...Read more.

How is Offset/Litho able to be "Green"?  The process has many things inherent that can affect the environment.  One key is to be efficient in the first place.  Pat argues a focus on this area will automatically lead to printing "green", not to mention more profits!...Watch the video

Andy Tribute: Print is Greener Than You Think!
Many people think that the printing industry is not green and they try to avoid "smearing dirty ink on cut down trees".  Andy thinks that's a load of rubbish.  He argues that the movement to renewable forests actually generate trees and the forestry and paper industries are the catalyst.  Other parts of the industry are doing more as well  and Andy highlights some of these efforts...Watch the video

Last week’s PrintingForLess (PFL) press release about its recent FSC certification caught my eye as Earth Day approached. This is the icing on the cake for this environmentally conscious web-based printing company located in Livingston, Montana. In 2006, the company moved into a brand-new building that was designed according to its business model, culture, the needs of its employees, its community, and the environment...Read more.
