Commenting on Patents and Innovation

January 24, 2006 -- Hi, It's unfortunate that patents are awarded without a survey of some type in the industry to see if this is in the public domain. This format was invented at Webcraft in North Brunswick NJ around 1980. This was done as a marketing technique for a cover of a direct mail catalog. Bob Katz and his engineers laid out the machinery and inline finishing web layout to create this and most of the formats you see in use today. Let's hope the system improves, and credit is given to the original innovators.

Thank You,

Rob Wainer
