WhatTheyThink Acquires PrepressForums.com, Releases New Version of PrintPlanet

September 5, 2007 - Lexington, KY - WhatTheyThink, the leading online media organization serving the printing and publishing industry, today announced a new release of the online forum PrintPlanet. In addition, WhatTheyThink has acquired Prepressforums.com. Together, the integrated community will offer users the largest online discussion forums for the printing and graphic arts industry under the WhatTheyThink family of published content, events, services, and industry resources.

The new version of the site can be found at http://www.printplanet.com and is free for all printing and graphic arts industry professionals.

“Since our acquisition of PrintPlanet in February of 2007, the forum shares between 1.5 and 2.5 million messages every month,” said Randy Davidson, president of WhatTheyThink. “With the integration of Prepressforums.com, we expect this number to grow, providing visitors with one of the largest and most comprehensive communities for the exchange of ideas and knowledge on products, technology, and industry trends.”

PrintPlanet will feature a robust and brisk user experience as well as a completely revised and simplified base of discussion topics. These forums include Digital Printing, MIS/ERP, Sheetfed/Web Offset, Prepress, Binding and Finishing; Wide Format and Inkjet; Ink, Substrates and Consumables; Information Technology, Education, Environment, Prepress and Workflow, as well as Color Management. In addition, there are forums for individual suppliers as well. Featuring a new brand identity and complete site redesign, the new release of PrintPlanet also allows users to post directly on the site or from the convenience of their favorite email application.

With the acquisition of Prepressforums.com, founder and moderator Cory Smith has been added to the team as Community Manager.  Cory will oversee moderation of the new PrintPlanet forums along with Dave Mainwaring, current moderator of the PrintPlanet email based communities. The new PrintPlanet joins WhatTheyThink’s portfolio of industry resources that includes PrintCEOblog.com, OnDemandJournal.com, The Digital Printing Resource Center, Economics and Research Center; and the WhatTheyThink Store.

Please visit http://www.printplanet.com, sign up and join the discussion!
