WhatTheyThink and NAPL Post-Graph Expo Webinar, Sponsored by EFI, Captures Essence of Show

In-depth review of workflow, digital print  and offset announcements draws more than 400 attendees

September 24, 2007 -- Lexington, Kentucky USA -- WhatTheyThink.com conducted a free printing industry educational webinar with NAPL to offer the industry insight into new products and trends in evidence at Graph Expo 2007, the second largest Graph Expo in history.  Graph Expo Post-Show Review, led by industry experts Barbara A. Pellow, Director of the Business Development and Custom Communications Services for InfoTrends, Ray Prince, NAPL Vice President, Senior Consultant, Operations Management, and Jim Hamilton, Group Director of InfoTrends’ On Demand Printing & Publishing, Jetting Technology Opportunities, and Wide Format Printing Consulting Services, was sponsored by EFI.

A full archive of the session, including post-session questions and answers, can be found at the following special link or by selecting the Webinars tab at the top of the WhatTheyThink home page:

“This year’s Graph Expo was not only the second largest in history, but was also one of the most optimistic in recent years,” said Randy Davidson, President, WhatTheyThink.  “Pellow, Prince and Hamilton captured the essence of the excitement as they reviewed key elements of the show, including digital and wide format printers, large offset presses and a myriad of workflow solutions that clearly demonstrate how quickly the industry is making the move from analog to digital.”

More than 400 senior printing and publishing executives registered for the event, and engaged in a lively question and answer session. Key trends identified by Pellow in her opening included the migration:

  • From labor intensive to lights-out
  • From Web-to-Print to e-Everything
  • From print service provider to marketing service provider
  • From ink and toner on paper to solutions selling and new market niches
  • From selling equipment to building your business

“To remain competitive in today’s market, printers must find new ways to control costs and increase efficiencies across the shop,” said Pellow. “Workflow technologies across the show floor—all designed with JDF integration—demonstrated greater job transparency, efficiency, and workflow automation to help printers stay ahead of the curve. The vendor community is on the right track as well, with most issuing the same message and backing up that message with business development support.”

Participants can view and listen to the presentation from the archive using a standard Internet browser with audio streamed via computer or download a PDF and MP3.
