Dr. Joe Webb Presents 2008 and 2009 Printing Industry Economic Outlook, Sponsored by Presstek

September 28, 2007 -- Lexington, Kentucky USA -- WhatTheyThink.com today announced that nearly 300 printing and publishing professionals attended a free printing industry economic webinar with forecaster and commentator Dr. Joe Webb. The event was held Wednesday, September 26th.

The event archive is available at this special Internet page:

During this one-hour event, Dr. Webb provided graphic arts, printing and publishing executives with an overview of what to expect relative to market conditions for the fourth quarter of 2007, as well as a peek into 2008 and 2009. Dr. Webb also shared his unique insight on the challenges and opportunities facing the printing industry.

Hundreds of printing executives regularly attend these quarterly events and access the archived material for later review. The next program is scheduled for December 12th, 2007, at 2 PM EST (-5 GMT)

“The economic indicators reflect an economy that is still moving sideways,” said Dr. Webb.  “Housing starts and permits are lower than we have seen for a decade, and I do not expect the real estate market to pick up for 18 months or so. But I do not see any real recession indicators. Printing shipments are running a little behind last year, but we have had five quarters of increasing profits.  This is one of the reasons, I believe, for the recent upbeat Graph Expo.”

“As companies are planning for 2008 and beyond,” stated Randy Davidson, President of WhatTheyThink.com, “this session and the insight and advice provided by Dr. Webb are timely. And his discussion debunking or supporting a range of common industry wisdom provides a new perspective and a set of thought starters for executives engaged in the planning process.”

Dr. Joe Webb is the director of WhatTheyThink.com's Economics and Research Center, where managers, researchers and analysts can find free and premium content about industry trends, including forecasts and more. Dr. Webb is a recognized marketing authority, forecaster and one of the best known speakers in our industry. He also contributes a weekly column at WhatTheyThink.com for Premium Access Members entitled “Mondays with Dr. Joe” as well as a regular writer on PrintCEOblog.com.
