WhatTheyThink's Speakers Bureau Shows Early Successes

November 7, 2007 — Lexington, KY — WhatTheyThink, the leading online media organization serving the printing and publishing industry, today announced signs of early success for their recently announced speaker's bureau. To date, a number of WhatTheyThink's editors and columnists have spoken on behalf of WhatTheyThink, recognized for their individual expertise, knowledge, and authority in the printing and graphic arts markets. (More info can be found at http://members.whattheythink.com/speakers/index.cfm)

Most recently, Dr. Joe Webb, director of WhatTheyThink's Economics and Research Center, spoke to an enthusiastic crowd in Vancouver, British Columbia, hosted by the British Columbia Printing & Imaging Association (BCPIA). Providing insights into Canada's Printing Industry and sponsored by Coast Paper and Fujifilm, Dr. Joe provided a historical snapshot of the Canadian printing industry, a ten-year forecast, as well as strategies on how print providers can embrace online media and position offline media accordingly. In addition, complete audio files of Dr. Joe's presentation are available for a nominal fee through the conference organizers by contacting Marilyn Knoch, executive director of the BCPIA at mknoch@bcpia.org, or by phone at (604) 542-0902.

Gail Nickel-Kailing, senior editor at WhatTheyThink.com, provided a keynote address celebrating the 25th anniversary of Commercial Communications, Inc. (CCI). In a presentation titled: "Printing - the Past, Present, and Future," Gail surprised the audience with some of the more unusual applications in the industry including "printing" a house, printed solar panels as well as printing on fingernails and rose petals. Gail went on to cover advances in the industry including digital and variable data printing as well as CCI's own application for the creation, management, and timely delivery of the large streams of data often associated with parts catalogs, product guides, and price books.

Noel Ward, managing editor of tradeshows at WhatTheyThink.com spoke at PIA/GATF's annual Variable Data and Personalization Conference. Noel led the opening track titled: "Variable Fundamentals" a series of three sessions geared to an audience wanting to explore the basics of variable data printing. Noel's sessions also included a case study that relied on the minimal use of variable data to achieve maximum results.

Noel also spoke on digital color printing on behalf of Canon Canada at GTEC in Ottawa, Ontario. GTEC is the major, annual Canadian conference covering a wide array of applications aided by technology used by provincial and national governments. Noel talked about integrating color into monochrome publications and what software tools to consider when acquiring multi-function printing systems.

"We're enthusiastic with the level of interest and number of conference organizers who have turned to WhatTheyThink to fill speaking engagements from our pool of industry experts," said Vince Naselli, business development at WhatTheyThink. "WhatTheyThink's Speakers Bureau also provides the industry with a single location for those looking for specific experts across a broad base of graphic arts and printing industry topics."

The service is provided for free to all corporate event and conference organizers. For individual speaker rates, terms, and topics, contact Vince Naselli at vnas@aol.com or (732) 568-0316.
