HP and WhatTheyThink Present “It’s Good to Be Green”

Informative Web Session Shared Communicate Sound Environmental Strategies for Graphic Communications Firms

May 1st, 2008 -- Lexington, Kentucky USA –WhatTheyThink.com conducted a free printing industry educational webinar. It’s Good to be Green, led by industry expert Barbara A. Pellow, Director of the Business Development and Custom Communications Services for research firm InfoTrends.  The program was sponsored by HP’s Capture Business Success Program.

The webinar archive may be accessed here.

“The great attendance at this session reflects the high level of interest the printing community has in environmentally friendly practices,” said Pellow. “Our panelists had terrific information to share and their companies should be applauded for their efforts in and dedication to reducing their overall environmental footprint.”

Pellow was joined by:

  • Richard Kouwenhoven Vice President, Digital Solutions & Fulfillment Services, Hemlock Printing in Burnaby, British Columbia. The firm is an environmentally progressive printer that has been named the most progressive printer in Canada for three years running.
  • Jim Duffy, President, Alonzo Printing Company Inc., Hayward, California.  Alonzo has a corporate policy of working with employees, customers, vendors, manufacturers and distributors of materials, supplies and production systems to achieve a neutral carbon footprint.
  • Cheryl Kahanec, Vice President of Digital Color for Sandy Alexander, Inc., one of the country's most respected full service graphic communication companies. Sandy Alexander is one of the only printing companies in the world to have ISO 9001:2001, ISO 14001:2004 and FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council) Chain-of-Custody Certification.

“We are extremely pleased that HP is once again a sponsor of a very important educational session,” said Randy Davidson, President, WhatTheyThink. “The three companies represented on the panel are examples of lead-edge print service providers who are truly concerned about their environmental impact and the health and safety of their workers.  We at WhatTheyThink hope those who were unable to attend will take advantage of the free webinar archive as they plan their own environmental strategies.”
